Chin-up, then, self. You’re doing your best. The thing to remember in these growing times is to simply be thankful you’re growing. Growth is not always easy. In fact, it is never easy. But you are happy, aren’t you?
Happy because this discomfort is proof you aren’t the stale person you feared you were becoming.
Happy that you are feeling less and less alone in this journey.
Happy for the gifts that you are given every single day, and most of all for the Giver of them.
Remember to be thankful – to practice your gratitude, because that is where you’ll learn to keep your happiness. Practice it just like you practice baking bread and playing music and running miles – all symbols in your life of the discipline it takes for your soul to become who you were called to be. These things prepare you for the soulful diligence needed to become a grateful person. A kind person. A truthful and trustworthy person. A free person!!!
So, what are you grateful for today, self? A warm slice of sourdough toast with an over-easy egg and a hot cup of french press? Yes.
Students waiting to practice their music with you this afternoon? Oh, man, are they cute.
And, knowing you, it’s as simple as the chocolate covered almonds that you had after lunch. Oooh, yes.
Is it that you woke up next to the man you love this morning? Oh, that’s my favorite!!
I know it’s not simple. Sometimes you fail and sometimes you trip, trying to take new steps. But don’t be so hard on you. The Giver loves you. He loves you.
Chin-up, then, self. You’re doing your best. The thing to remember in these growing times is to simply be thankful you’re growing.
